Al Wadi University hosts the English language training forum for southern universities
Today, February 4, 2024, the University of Martyr Hamou Lakhdar hosted the regional training session for southern universities to promote the use of the English language in the Abu Al-Qasim Saadallah Grand Lecture Hall. This session is part of the implementation of the recommendations of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and under the supervision of the National Committee in charge of promoting the English language and in coordination with the local committee of the University of El Oued.
The forum was opened by the University Director, Professor Omar Farhati, in the presence of the Chairman of the National Committee for the Promotion of the English Language, Professor Qassed Asia, the Director of the Higher School of Desert Agriculture in El Oued, the Chairman of the Thematic Agency for Technology, the Sub-Director of Evaluation at the Ministry of Higher Education, the Chairman of the Local Committee for the Promotion of the Use of the English Language at the University, the Vice-Directors of the University, the Deans of the Faculties, the trainers, and about 120 professors concerned with training from the Universities of Ouargla, Biskra, M'Sila, Tamanrasset, Illizi, Adrar, Ghardaia, in addition to the University of El Oued.
In his opening speech, the University President welcomed the attendees and specifically mentioned the head of the National Committee, Professor Qassed Asia, expressing his happiness for choosing her to launch the first training session at our university. He also greeted all supervisors of the distinguished scientific training in the presence of professors and researchers in the field of science and technology in various institutions. He hoped that the training would be qualitative and within what the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research urges, praising the great efforts made by the supervising ministry and wishing success for this forum.
For her part, the head of the National Committee, Professor Qassed Asia, thanked the university director for hosting this important event and pointed out the objectives of the forum, which are to promote the English language, exchange information and experiences, solve the problems raised, and address the challenges of teaching the English language, scientific research, and training.
The coordinator of the local committee for promoting the use of the English language, Dr. Dahda Nasr, gave a speech welcoming the attendees and giving a picture of the training forum that will last for a week.
The training course included 120 professors trained by eight training professors distributed over four workshops at the Faculty of Law and Political Science.
The Chairperson of the National Committee, Professor Qassed Asia, also gave an opening lecture in English entitled:
“TEACHING STEM IN ENGLISH IN THE EFL CLASSROOM” (STEM:Science,Technology, Engineering,Mathematics)
After that, the teachers were distributed to the workshops to begin their training.
