University of Oued organizes the first international conference on oasis cities in central Morocco and Africa during the Middle Ages: importance, interaction, and roles 

Today, December 13, 2022, the “International Forum on Oasis Cities in the Middle Maghreb and Africa during the Middle Ages” was launched at the University of Martyr Hama Lakhdar, Faculty of Social and Human Sciences, in the Grand Lecture Hall of Abu Al-Qasim Saadallah, under the supervision of the University Director, Professor Omar Farhati, and in the presence of the Vice-Director of the University for External Relations, Professor Qaddah Al-Habib, the Vice-Director in charge of Scientific Research, Professor Abu Bakr Mansour, the Dean of the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences, Dr. Ammar Ghraisa, the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Languages, Dr. Dalal Washan, the Mujahid Professor Bashir Khalaf, the Chairman of the Scientific Committee of the Forum, Dr. Ben Omar Allal, the Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Forum, Dr. Abdelkader Azzam Awadi, and professors from the sisterly Republic of Tunisia and from various states of the country, the media family, and male and female students.  
The forum was opened on behalf of the university director by his deputy in charge of external relations, Professor Qaddah Al-Habib, who welcomed the attendees and thanked all contributors to this important forum, which addresses a geohistorical study and a study of the communication process. In general, this forum attempts to answer many problems, and he praised all the efforts made by this active college through numerous forums.
The Dean of the College, Dr. Ammar Ghraisa, gave a welcoming speech to the attendees, thanking everyone who contributed to this scientific event. He also praised the efforts of the Head of the Laboratory for Research on the Economic and Social History of Algeria in order to make this conference a success, as well as the Scientific and Organizing Committee. The Dean also indicated that the conference has three axes through roles, interaction and importance, and that it addresses a part of our country, Algeria, and with it our sister country, Tunisia.
To shed light on this geographical region in the Maghreb, the Dean of the College pointed out that the intended cities are the oasis cities located southeast of Algeria, from the Wadi Souf region, the Saoura region, the Mzab region, Biskra, the Righ Valley, and the Jerid oases in southern Tunisia.
   He also wished success for this event to maintain excellence and giving in building our university.
Professor Mohamed El Said Aqib, Director of the History Laboratory, intervened, thanking the honorable attendees and praising the efforts of the scientific and organizational committee and all participants for the success of this conference. Dr. Ibrahim Jadala from the University of Manouba in Tunisia gave a word of thanks to the entire university family of the University of Martyr Hamou Lakhdar and to all those who contributed to this scientific event from the participating professors.
Then, the Vice-Rector of the University in charge of external relations, Professor Qaddah Al-Habib, announced the official opening of the forum.
On the initiative of the organizing committee of the forum, the university president, the dean of the College of Social and Human Sciences, Professor Dr. Ashouri Qamaoun, and Professor Dr. Muhammad Al-Saeed Aqib were honored.
The scientific sessions will start with two interventions: the first intervention by Dr. Ibrahim Jadala from the University of Manouba in Tunisia entitled “Economic and Social Conditions in the Oases of Touat during the Ninth Century” and the second intervention by Professor Ali Gnabzia on “The Wadi Souf Region during the Hafsid Era.”
According to the organizing committee of the forum, about 80 interventions were scheduled, including two interventions from Mauritania by professors and researchers from inside and outside the country, distributed between in-person scientific sessions and via remote conferencing technology.
