Conclusion of the activities and activities of the twenty-second national forum on “The Role of the Constitutional Court in Algeria in Protecting Rights and Freedoms” at the Faculty of Law and Political Science
On Monday, May 8, 2023, the activities and events of the twenty-second national forum on “The Role of the Constitutional Court in Algeria in Protecting Rights and Freedoms” concluded at the Faculty of Law and Political Science, in the presence of the University Director, Professor Omar Farhati, and based on the interventions made by the participants from various national universities, and from the Algerian Constitutional Court, and over the course of two days of the forum’s work, which resulted in a number of important recommendations read by Dr. Said Mokadem, President of the Maghreb Shura Council, including:
1- Accelerating the implementation of digitization of payment procedures and notification of unconstitutionality at the level of the Constitutional Court.
2- Preparing a comprehensive functional guide for the principles and rules of Algerian constitutional judiciary, supplemented with terms commonly used in Arabic and French, to facilitate a good understanding of the spirit of the text.
3- Holding training courses in the field of unconstitutionality for judges and lawyers, in cooperation with the Constitutional Court, the Bar Association and university institutions.
4- Ensuring the dissemination and promotion of constitutional culture and human rights in society with the participation of civil society activities.
In addition to many technical issues related to correcting and amending some of the articles regulating the Constitutional Court, which will be submitted to the relevant authorities in this regard.
At the end of the forum, the participants sent a congratulatory telegram to all those in charge of organizing this forum, most notably Professor Dr. Omar Farhati, the university president, Professor Dr. Al-Maki Draji, the dean of the Faculty of Law and Political Science, and Dr. Ahlam Harrach, the director of the forum. Congratulations were also extended to the scientific and organizational body of the forum, as well as to everyone who participated, directly or indirectly, in the success of its activities. After the great success of the forum, another date was set for national forums in this context.
