3.3.2 – Does your university as a body deliver outreach programmes and projects in the local community (which can include student volunteering programmes) to improve or promote health & wellbeing including hygiene, nutrition, family planning, sports, exercise, aging well, and other health and wellbeing related topics?

The University of El Oued delivers active and varied health and wellbeing outreach programs aimed at promoting key health topics and building practical skills within the local community, utilizing both institutional capacity and collaboration with external student organizations.

1. Emergency Preparedness and Community Capacity Building

The university runs collaborative training programs focused on essential emergency response skills, directly contributing to community preparedness and wellbeing:

  • A Training Course in First Aid was organized and implemented. This program was delivered in cooperation between the Directorate of University Services and the local University Residence, and critically, in coordination with the National Student Renewal Alliance—an external student political/social body. This collaboration confirms the program’s nature as an outreach activity engaging non-university entities.

● Promotion of Wellbeing: The provision of First Aid training directly improves community health capacity by equipping participants with the practical skills necessary to respond to accidents and crises, thereby enhancing emergency preparedness and overall safety.

2. Specialized Health Education and Wellbeing Promotion
The university addresses important health topics, including those explicitly mandated by the indicator’s guidance (such as family planning and sexual health), through organized educational events:

● Activity: A Study Day on Sexual and Reproductive Health was successfully held.
The event was a joint effort between the Medical Annex and the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences. It featured valuable presentations and activities supported by the University Psychological Support Center and the Ra’eel Medical Club.
