17.4.4 Does your university as a body measure the sustainability literacy of students?

The University of El Oued is actively engaged in academic efforts to measure and improve student awareness of sustainable development principles, recognizing that quantifiable assessment is essential for enhancing educational effectiveness. While a formal, compulsory university-wide assessment policy for all students is not yet documented, the commitment to measuring knowledge retention is already embedded within the activities of its academic clubs.

Post-Event Knowledge Assessment

The Ibsar Club for Sustainable Development organized a Scientific Workshop for Children on Sustainable Development. This activity serves as a model for educational assessment, as the event description confirms that at the conclusion of the workshop, an oral competition/quiz was administered to check what the children understood and retained about the SDGs.

This post-session evaluation, where answers and participation were “very honorable,” confirms that the University’s resources and clubs prioritize measuring knowledge transfer following educational interventions. This principle can be scaled up to develop a formal assessment tool for the general student body.
