The university actively uses its facilities to host significant events that serve as forums for dialogue, education, and national policy discussion for the broader non-academic community:

  1. National Symposium on Cybersecurity (May 13, 2024):

Public Nature: UEO hosted a major National Symposium on “Cybersecurity and the Stakes of Comprehensive Security in Algeria.” The event was officially opened by the Inspector General of the Wilaya, representing the Governor, and saw participation from Security and Civil Authorities, members of the National People’s Assembly (parliamentarians), representatives from the Directorate of Post and Communications, Scout Movement leaders, and the Media Community.

Educational Content: The symposium featured presentations from high-profile academic experts and security officials on topics like cybersecurity in integrated security systems, digital security for state institutions, and combating cybercrime. The explicit goal was to raise public awareness regarding national security and the safe use of social media, confirming its function as a vital educational service for the public.
2. World Press Freedom Day Celebration (May 2, 2024):
Civic and Media Engagement: UEO hosted the official provincial celebration for World Press and Expression Freedom Day. The event was attended by the Governor, the President of the Provincial People’s Assembly, Security Committee members, elected officials, civil authorities, and the entire media community.

The event welcomed high-level university officials alongside representatives from national and international projects, showcasing the university’s internationalization strategy to any interested non-affiliated party, reinforcing the message of global educational opportunity.
