3.3.1 – Does your university as a body have current collaborations with local, national or global health institutions to improve health & wellbeing outcomes?

The University of El Oued maintains robust and current institutional collaborations across local and global sectors to actively enhance health outcomes and general wellbeing. These partnerships go beyond standard academic cooperation by facilitating practical training, direct health service provision, and international knowledge transfer.

Local Collaboration: Training and Public Health Service
The university ensures its medical training is aligned with the critical needs of the local community through ongoing, structured partnerships with provincial health institutions.

1. Medical Training and Practical Exposure: The collaboration with the Cancer Control Center in the Wilaya serves as a core component of medical education. Following directives from the University Director, students from the Medical Annex conducted their first required scientific field trip on March 14, 2024. This partnership, which is underpinned by an existing operational agreement, is essential for translating theoretical knowledge into practical, field-based skills, thereby improving the quality of future healthcare professionals serving the region.

2. Direct Community Health Intervention: The university actively initiates collaborations for public health awareness and service. On October 23, 2024, the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences organized an Awareness Campaign focused on breast cancer prevention and early detection. This initiative was executed in direct coordination with Local Medical Services (External Medical Teams), who provided crucial support by conducting free medical examinations for female students and staff on campus. This practical service provision directly contributed to local public health outcomes.

Global Collaboration: Transfer of Specialized Knowledge
The university fosters global collaboration to raise academic standards and introduce international expertise to its students:

The university hosted a high-profile visit from Professor Souied Mohamed, a specialist in Kidney Transplantation practicing in France. During his visit on February 24, 2024, he delivered a motivational lecture to medical students. This direct engagement with an international expert ensures that students are exposed to current global clinical practices and specialized knowledge, enhancing the quality and ambition of their medical education.
