This policy aims to:<\/span><\/p><ul><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Encourage healthy lifestyles among the university community.<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Promote quitting tobacco use.<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Prevent initiation of tobacco use by youth.<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Change social norms around tobacco use.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Applicability\/Scope<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">This policy applies to all persons on all properties owned, leased, or operated by the University of El Oued. This includes, but is not limited to:<\/span><\/p><ul><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Indoor and outdoor facilities, including classrooms, laboratories, libraries, administrative offices, cafeterias, student centers, sports facilities, and restrooms.<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Parking lots, walkways, and public spaces.<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Personal vehicles parked on university property.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Definitions<\/strong><\/span><\/p><ul><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Smoke\/Smoking: Inhaling, exhaling, burning, or carrying any cigarette, cigar, electronic or non-electronic smoking device, pipe, hookah, or other tobacco-related product.<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Tobacco: Any product containing tobacco or nicotine intended for introduction into the human body, including cigarettes, cigars, pipes, electronic or non-electronic cigarettes, chewing tobacco, snuff, or any other smokeless tobacco product.<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Tobacco-Free: No smoking or use of any tobacco or tobacco-like product in any form is permitted.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Smoke\/Tobacco-Free Policy<\/strong><\/span><\/p><ol><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Smoking and tobacco use are strictly prohibited on all university property at all times. This includes the disposal of lit cigarettes, chewing tobacco waste, or any other tobacco product litter.<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Ashtrays and smoking shelters are not provided on campus grounds.<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The sale, promotion, or distribution of smoking or tobacco products and merchandise is prohibited on all university property.<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">University employees are prohibited from smoking or using tobacco products while wearing university-identified clothing.<\/span><\/li><\/ol><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Communication<\/strong><\/span><\/p><ol><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Signage clearly stating the university\u2019s smoke-free policy are prominently displayed throughout campus, including entrances, exits, and common areas.<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Information about the policy is readily available on the university website, awareness campaigns and outreach programmes as well as during orientation programs.<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Regular awareness campaigns will be conducted to educate the university community about the policy, the health risks of tobacco use, and resources for quitting smoking.<\/span><\/li><\/ol><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Compliance<\/strong><\/span><\/p><ol><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">All members of the university community are responsible for upholding this policy.<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Individuals who observe violations of this policy are encouraged to politely inform the person of the policy.
