Today, 6-6-2023, students Khiari Ahmed Khiari and Mahmoud Aaiba from the Faculty of Technology at the University of Martyr Hama Lakhdar discussed a graduation thesis for a master\u2019s degree within the framework of the start-up institution - a patent according to Ministerial Resolution 1275, which focused on presenting three inventions reached by the two students related to an application for transporting goods that obtained the trademark (label) for the student Khiari Ahmed Khiari, as well as an innovative project consisting of two smart devices in collaboration between the aforementioned student and the student Mahmoud Aaiba, which are a smart cane and talking glasses for the blind.<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n
The discussion session was attended by the University President, Professor Omar Farhati, his Vice President for External Relations, Professor Habib Qaddah, the Director of the Business Incubator, Mohamed Fouad Farhat, and a number of professors, students and their parents.<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n
The discussion committee was formed of six members: the committee chairman, Dr. Shaib Al-Abyad, and two examiners, Dr. Misbah Al-Awamer and Dr. Mansouri Khaled, the incubator representative, the supervisor of the students\u2019 work, Dr. Hakima Al-Sharif, and her assistant, Dr. Alali Nasiba, in addition to the economic partner, the representative of the Solidarity and Social Activity Directorate.<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n
Before the discussion session, the University President delivered a speech in which he praised the students\u2019 achievements and their research projects, which he said were transformed into patents that benefit society, whether those related to the (Safeer) application for transporting goods or the smart cane and talking glasses for the blind, awaiting important innovative projects that will be discussed in the coming days. The University President also appreciated the work of the committee supervising the evaluation of the students\u2019 research project, as well as the great role played by the incubator director in supporting and accompanying the start-up projects - patents within the framework of the strategy of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, pledging to provide all material, moral and pedagogical support to help students achieve their goals and transform the university into a contributor to economic and social development by solving many of the problems raised through these innovative projects.<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n
Dr. Hakima Al Sharif, the supervisor of the two students' graduation thesis, who received an excellent grade, explained that the first invention of the student Khayari Ahmed Khayari, which is the Safir application that can be downloaded via the Internet, will help the customer transport his goods easily and from anywhere, as the application connects the person who wants to transport his goods with the driver, by requesting the chosen means of transportation in a few minutes and contacting him, specifying his location and destination, the type of load, its weight, the distance, the time of arrival, and choosing the appropriate price for the customer. She explained that the customer first creates his free account, then registers his personal information (name and surname; number; email and his password) and it remains saved in the application. Upon entering the application, he chooses the vehicle he wants, the type of goods and the region, and it is sent to the driver, who then looks at his request and sends the specified price for the type of load and sends it to the customer, and through this it is approved and transported to the specified location. She pointed out that the owner of the invention received an investment offer from economic operators from Oran, the capital and the Sultanate of Oman.<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n
The second and third inventions are shared by student Khayari Ahmed Khayari and student Mahmoud Aaiba. They are two smart systems for the blind. The first is a smart stick containing an ultrasonic sensor capable of detecting obstacles and sending alert signals to the blind person through sound and ringing. The second invention is smart glasses equipped with an artificial intelligence camera. The camera takes pictures of obstacles and then identifies them through a pre-trained artificial intelligence algorithm. The name of the obstacle is then converted into a sound that the blind person can hear through a headset connected to the glasses.<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n
On the sidelines of the discussion session, the incubator organized a technology exhibition of the most important innovations achieved by students within the framework of innovative projects, where the university director, his deputy in charge of external relations, members of the discussion committee, professors, students and their parents viewed them closely, and they were amazed by the innovations achieved by the male and female students of Al Wadi University.<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
